Your Specific Injury
- Shoulder/Arm

Whether you have a rotator cuff tear, tendonitis, adhesive capsulities, torn labrum, have an arm fracture or any other shoulder or arm problem, you know how debilitating it can be. You need your arm for almost any activity, and your condition may have been caused by an accident, traumatic impact, or overuse of that body part. Extremity injuries such as these are expected to result in surgery and/or require physical therapy. Under the new 2010 guidelines, these injuries have a set number of treatments and doctor visits, so you must understand that the Carrier will eventually contest any continued necessary care, and it will be up to your doctor to prove the medical necessity of its continuity. Once you reach maximum medical improvement, your doctor will evaluate you to see what percentage loss of use of that body part stems from the accident in question, and you may be entitled to a significant amount of money so long as you have not been out of work for an excessively long time. Typically, one reaches maximum medical improvement from these injuries within one year from the date of the accident or date of surgery.
It is important that your Attorney knows how your injury affects you and the value of your injury in relation to your Workers’ Compensation claim. Make sure you have the top Workers’ Compensation lawyer on your side.

- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)

You're working at your desk, trying to ignore the tingling or numbness you've had for some time in your hand and wrist. Suddenly, a sharp, piercing pain shoots through the wrist and up your arm. Just a passing cramp? Well…it’s more likely you have carpal tunnel syndrome.
The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway of ligament and bones at the base of your hand. It contains nerves and tendons. Sometimes, thickening from irritated tendons or other swelling narrows the tunnel and causes the nerve to be compressed. Symptoms usually start gradually. As they worsen, grasping objects becomes increasingly difficult.
What causes the problem? Some people have smaller carpal tunnels than other people do. Other causes include performing assembly line work, wrist injury, or swelling due to certain diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Women are three times more likely to have carpal tunnel syndrome than men. Treatment includes resting your hand, splints, pain and anti-inflammatory medicines, and surgery. CTS (as it’s called for short) is the most common type of occupational disease (OD) – a condition that results from repetitive work activity over the years.
CTS will most likely result in a permanent disability classification, which in turn can lead to a substantial settlement. You need the best Workers’ Compensation Attorney on your side to ensure you have the best possible representation to maximize your award.

- Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD)

Also called Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), RSD is a chronic pain condition. The key symptom of RSD is continuous, intense pain out of proportion to the severity of the injury, which gets worse rather than better over time. RSD most often affects one of the arms, legs, hands, or feet. Often the pain spreads to include the entire arm or leg. Typical features include dramatic changes in the color and temperature of the skin over the affected limb or body part, accompanied by intense burning pain, skin sensitivity, sweating, and swelling. Doctors aren’t sure what causes RSD. In some cases the sympathetic nervous system plays an important role in sustaining the pain. Another theory is that RSD is caused by a triggering of the immune response, which leads to the characteristic inflammatory symptoms of redness, warmth, and swelling in the affected area.
This is a condition that often results from other work-related accidents and direct impact to limbs. Claimants don’t always know what is causing the random yet umbearable pain and discomfort that they are feeling, and therefore don’t automatically connect it to the work-accident. It is important to always tell your doctor about any unusual changes regarding anything after the accident.
RSD will often result in a classification of a permanent disability of some degree and a possible settlement that can entitle you to a significant amount of money. It is important to have the best Workers’ Compensation Attorney on your side to ensure you get all you are entitled in the most efficient way possible.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an emotional illness that is classified as an anxiety disorder and usually develops as a result of a terribly frightening, life-threatening, or otherwise highly unsafe experience. PTSD sufferers re-experience the traumatic event or events in some way, tend to avoid places, people, or other things that remind them of the event (avoidance), and are exquisitely sensitive to normal life experiences (hyperarousal).
In order to have a claim for PTSD you will need a Psychiatrist’s report stating that your condition stems from a work-related condition or incident. Since you may be entitled to a significant amount of money, it is important to have the best Workers’ Compensation Attorney on your side to maximize your awards.
